I don't know about you guys, but on my iPhone 4 battery life has been great since 4.3.2 - best of any 4.x updates. Let's hope 4.3.3 doesn't break it, or I'll be really pissed.

At the schools I worked at, they had the soft caps but switched to a yellow or white helmet when they left school. But anyways, I can definitely see your point. When I was living there, I wondered why a healthy society would have so many smokers. Then I was told that the Japanese government owns half the tobacco industry. I remembered seeing an anti-smoking poster at the school I worked at and the three big reasons listed for not smoking didn't include any smoking related diseases. One of those reasons was that you will continue to want to smoke. Like that's really going to scare kids from smoking. It's practically the same as the slogan Frito-Lays used to use.

That makes me feel better about my purchase for some strange reason. I guess I am glad I don't have to shell out another $600.... Although I wish I had the 3g version right now. Dang.

Actually, it will be better than Garmin.
What they do, is they hire local people to watch you via the position tracking. Then, they can give you directions based on your exact location.
Imagine, "Slow down for upcoming pot hole on left."

Been hearing of people who use power splitters to power two cards, but don't know much about it.
It's been done before, but users have to be careful due to how much current is drawn from each rail (+12V). Pull too much current from any rail, and you will trip protection circuits at best, and possibly even blow the PSU. If the latter happens, you could damage other parts of the system.
What makes this harder in the MP, is I don't recall any information as to what the current limit is, or trace out which rail is which.
Anyone item in itself will is not going to be worth $1000.00, but you start to include all these items, it adds up pretty quickly.
Aluminum is a lot more expensive metal then steel & plastic.
Aluminum may be more expensive than steel, but there's not enough of it to remotely justify an additional $1k on an SP Mac Pro. Not even adding in the cost difference between the PSU's (btw, you can spec out a larger PSU in the Dell's, and it's mandatory with some options IIRC).
In terms of reliability, we're talking about workstations, which are designed to be more reliable than desktops (tend to see things like better cooling, layout, ... vs. desktop counterparts).

Nice. That's from C418's MC album, yes? Is that available in high resolution somewhere?
Yeeees, it is :) Great album too. Here's a link. (http://www66.zippyshare.com/v/38782629/file.html)

If people want a truly stunning example of FUD, this is it. Being able to track someone remotely, when they are less than 20 metres away is only usefull as a way to scare people into buying your iPod / Nike Beacon Jamming Kit for only $19.95.

Plus you can just sell the 4 on ebay or something, if the iPhone 5 comes out soon there after. It'll fetch the same price or a little less than the iPhone 5's non-contract price. So you can just buy a non-contract iPhone 5 and use that as the hardware on your current iPhone line. It's one way to get around renewing your contract for 2 more years and paying fees.
But aren't you just assuming that there will be a "No Contract" price option either on the white iP4 or 5 for that matter?
Please correct me if I am wrong but there never used to bea no contract option. That was something that came to be later on and there is no guarantee that it will be available on the new phones. RIGHT?

It's funny, but wherever I go, I always see people with iPhones. My train, on plane trips between Chicago and NYC, during meetings, etc. I am amazed the number is only 5% - but I guess it's the circles that I am in.
Apple's Share of Global Mobile Phone Market Hits 5%.

Hello kind folks of MacRumors.com-
I am wishing for help and advice deciding what type of hardware to purchase for a 30TB server. It must meet the following requirements:
• 30TB RAID (Redundancy important for backup purposes)
• Remote Accessibility in that I would like to be able to pull files from it anywhere that I have an internet connection.
• Macintosh friendly– it does not need to run OS X Server, it just needs to connect without hassle to Macs.
This will be used for at my office for archiving video. We may want to use Final Cut Server to sort the files in the future. I have been tasked with building this setup and am hoping for suggestions from one of the brightest communities on the web. :D
Your time in responding is much appreciated.

Me too. Yeah that Psych Pilot was originally tranmitted in HD 16 x 9. So I was shocked to find when I opened it that it is in 4x3. An excellent looking encode. But the completely and lamely wrong aspect ratio. Really shocked me to find nobody caught that on the way in. Looks like the encoders never watch TV.
I downloaded the Pilot as well. Very impressive. I blew video up to the size of my screen (almost "full screen" mode) and it still looked great!

So since I have stopped listening, if you could, please explain about the hard drive being worth $179. Because Newegg is listing 120 gig laptop drives for less than $80.
The transfer cable & black color = $99 ;)
j/k :D

I don't want to read too much into this, but it's still upsetting that Steve Jobs' health is in bad shape. That being said, I can't wait to read this.

10.6 is very decent but there are a couple of minor things that would make me very happy;
being able to password protect individual folders
Yep, this would be nice as well. :(

At least the 3 didn't commit "suicide"...
And yet they still might. The culture there is very honor bound. It can great a lot of stress. Especially if you just lost the job that is supporting your family out in the country, have been publicly humiliated and probably blacklisted from similar jobs.
As for Foxconn having them arrested, I'm not surprised. They risk losing their contracts with more than just Apple if it is implied that they condone this behavior. So they have to come out against it even if they really aren't

was my reaction lol
I think we most likely held it down too long.
From http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303364
Hold down the power button until the power indicator light flashes, then release it. A long tone will be heard, then a gray screen with an Apple logo appears. There is a progress bar under the logo. As the progress bar moves, your firmware is being updated.

This would actually be welcome news for me if it's true. I just bought the iPad 2 and can't really afford to upgrade again until next year! :apple:
